Robert M. “Polk” Blevins, age 74, of the Shoal Creek Community, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 28th, 2023. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Luther and Carrie Hyatt Blevins. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Irene Blevins Shuford; sister-in-law, Mary Hope Blevins and niece, Tambra Blevins Cannon. Polk was an employee Yancey County Landfill for many years. He enjoyed old western movies.
Surviving are his brothers: Ralph Blevins (Opal) and Charles Blevins; brother-in-law, Martin Shuford; nephews: Chris Shuford (Christy) and Tim Blevins (Kim) and nieces: Sharon Mercer (Kim), Teresa Pittman and Donna Casas (Romeo). Many great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
