Mike Woody, age 69, of Sean Drive in Spruce Pine, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023.
Born on April 25, 1954 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Pat Millard Woody and the late Lillian Ollis Woody Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two infant brothers and an infant sister.
Mike was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church. He was retired from Mitchell Lumber in Spruce Pine following fifty years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was the yard foreman. He enjoyed his family, working on small engines, cars and welding. He also enjoyed hunting arrowheads and anything to do with wood.
Left to cherish his memory is his sons; Damien Woody and wife, Amanda of Spruce Pine and Tyler Woody and fiancé, Jordyn Mitchell of Spruce Pine; friend of the family, Angie Silver of Bakersville; his brothers; Houston Jackson Woody of Woodlawn and David Lee Woody of Pleasant Gardens; his grandchildren; Dalton and Ayden Woody of Spruce Pine; his nephew, Cory Woody and his niece, Shanell Woody.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00 pm the Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Silver and the Rev. Brent Frady officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church.
