Municipal Elections Set for November 7, Register by October 13

(Press release from Mitchell Board of Elections) The last day to register to vote for November 7 municipal elections in Bakersville and Spruce Pine is October 13. Voters must live in one of the municipalities to vote in this election.

“For the first time since March 2016 photo IDs will be required in order to vote,” explained Mtchell County Board of Elections Director Roycene Jones. “Be prepared to present a photo ID. If you don’t have a photo ID contact us at the Board of Elections, 828.688.3101, to find out how to get one. Or just come by and ask.”

Bakersville residents will vote at the Bakersville Fire Department at 306 Bakers Lane. Spruce Pine residents will vote at the Spruce Pine Fire Department at 100 Fire Fighter Way. The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.

Sample ballots will be available online at https://www.mitchellcountync.gov/departments/elections-board/ or at the Board of Elections office at 11 North Mitchell Avenue, Room 108.

“Please be kind and courteous to election officials, volunteers and other voters,” Jones reminded residents.
