Please understand that the definition of “an educated citizenry” is questionable when it comes to both parties, including who gets one. And “never” is a very long time. Also understand that budgeting in the United States is not and has never been the zero sum game where money is moved from one column to the other. Also understand the bulk of education funding being spent and withheld for public education is at the state level. That’s all a design feature and a flaw for which both parties can take blame over a very long time. Is one party over the deep end now and beyond the pale now? No doubt. But is the other smelling like roses? No way. Will I vote for the latter? Yes. But bear in mind how low the bar is for making that decision.
