The North Carolina Mountaineer and Apple Butter Festival Returns for a Sweet and Fun Celebration

The North Carolina Mountaineer and Apple Butter Festival is back in Bakersville and better than ever! Mark your calendars for 20 and 21 October as we prepare to welcome visitors from near and far to revel in the beauty of our North Carolina mountains, enjoy great local music, participate in traditional mountaineer contests, and savor the delicious taste of homemade apple butter.

This year’s festival promises an exciting and fun experience for attendees of all ages. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Roan Mountain in the little Town of Bakersville, the North Carolina Mountaineer and Apple Butter Festival offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, local art, and culinary delights.

Festival Highlights:

Apple Butter Making: Come help us in the age-old tradition of apple butter making. Jump in and help turn fresh apples into this mouthwatering treat.

Live Music and Entertainment: Enjoy the sounds of local musicians and performers as they fill the air with melodies that capture the spirit of these mountains. With special tributes to Local Treasures Rhonda Gouge and Red Wilson.

Crafts and Artisans: Explore a wide range of arts and crafts vendors showcasing their handcrafted wares, including pottery, jewelry, textiles, and more.

Delicious Food: Satisfy your taste buds with a variety of local culinary delights, including apple-themed treats, barbecue, and the Bakersville Area Merchants Association chili and cornbread cookoff.

Kid-Friendly Activities: Families will find plenty of fun activities for children, including games, face painting, and the first Annual Pet Pageant.

Adult Activities: Sign up and compete in the Mighty Mountaineer Challenge, show off your beard, and enjoy the Shriners’ Mountaineer Car Show.
