Tokuko Kashio Dayton, 88 years old, died peacefully at home in Spruce Pine, NC on October 10, 2023 after several years of dealing with Alzheimer’s.
Tokuko was born on December 23, 1934 in Yokohama, Japan and was preceded in death by her parents, Goichi and Tatsuko Yamamoto Kashio. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her five older siblings; Emiko, Eioko, Meioko, Cheziko, and Tsunako.
She married David Dayton on November 13, 1962 three different times/ways. These two definitely meant business. She worked in accounting and met David while he was in the Air Force. Tokuko played piano and led the choir at Mt. Zion Methodist Church where she also was the treasurer for many years.
Prior to retirement, she workd for Great Meadows, Inc. for twenty-four years. She loved to watch all sports with David especially the Duke Blue Devils and the Los Angeles Dodgers. And she really loved attending any event her grandchildren participated in.
She is survived by her husband; David Dayton; her children; David Dayton, Jr. and his wife, Tammy and Kim Smith and her husband; Keith; four grandchildren; Dawson Dayton, Samantha Johnson, Samantha Mauney and her husband, John; Ben Smith and his wife, Barbara; and future great grand baby Smith.
Memorial services will be on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. David Greene officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home.
