Douglas Earl “Doug” McClellan, age 68, of the Gouges Creek Community, passed away on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at this home.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Paul and Julia Thomas McClellan. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Opa Lee McClellan and two brothers: Paul McClellan, Jr. and Rick McClellan.
Doug enjoyed camping and riding his motorcycles. He is known in many several surrounding counties for mechanicing on their motorcycles and ATV’s. Doug’s favorite thing was eating his granddaughter, Korie’s, cornbread.
Surviving is his loving wife of 32 years, Paula Buchanan McClellan; daughter, Jessica Yelton; son, Robert McFalls (Brittany), all of Burnsville; grandchildren: Korie (Josh), Grayson, Kylie and Brantley; sisters: Shirley Carter of Morganton, Betty Kesterson of Rutherfordton, Pauline McClellan of Spindale and Shelby Sprinkle of Marion; brother, Daniel McClellan (Nancy) of Morganton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Judy Buchanan of Spruce Pine; sister-in-law, Sandra Miller (Brian) and brother-in-law, Tony Buchanan (Becca) all of Gouges Creek. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 12th in the Gouges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Thomas will officiate.
