Boot Scootin’ BBQ for Big Brothers Big Sisters Nov. 11th

Who doesn’t love some good barbecue and line dancing?

Boot Scootin’ BBQ, an annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties, returns Saturday, Nov. 11. The 6-8 p.m. event will be held at the Cross Street Commerce Center, 31 Cross Street, Spruce Pine.

Countryside BBQ will provide the food. The Toe River Drifters will make the music. There will be a silent auction and other fun stuff, all to benefit BBBS’s work to recruit and train caring adult mentors (“Bigs”) for great kids (“Littles”) in Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties.

Studies show that kids with mentors do better in school, at home and in the community. Having another adult on their side can make all the difference in the lives of many children and young adults.

Childcare will be available at Boot Scootin’ BBQ. Tickets, $40 per person or two people for $70, are available at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/bootscootinbbq2023/.
