The people on here yelling about LGBTQ+ folx being represented in library displays while Christians aren’t are being disingenuous. The reason for creating displays about LGBTQ+ people is the same reason for doing displays about African Americans or Indigenous people. These populations are historically and actively marginalized in our country and its history. These displays bring attention to people who are too often forgotten or unwanted. White Christians, particularly Evangelicals, like to play the oppressed victim but they are the people with privilege. The problem is, when places like the library bring attention to oppressed groups, it takes the spotlight off straight, white, Evangelicals. And they can’t stand not being the center of attention. Grow up, think of someone besides yourself and let’s all live and let live. It’s really not that hard.
