Larry Scott LaPlante, age 63, of the Spruce Pine Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
A native of Garden City, Michigan, the family moved to the mountains of North Carolina when Larry was just seven years of age and this is where he made his home. He was a son of the late Leonard and Joyce Brooks LaPlante. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Allen LaPlante and Jerry Lee LaPlante, as well as his maternal grandmother, Beulah Buchanan.
Larry was a “jack of all trades” who loved everyone he met. He was a very good-hearted person who always tried to make everyone around him happy and laugh. He will be missed by his friends and family.
Surviving are his children: Justin LaPlante (Laura) of Weaverville and Tiffany LaPlante (Russell) of Charlotte; four grandchildren: Willow, Gavin, Christian and Calista; sisters: Janet McClellan (Robert) of Swannanoa and Kim Bartlett (Mike) of Arkansas; brothers: Mike LaPlante (Cory) of Swannanoa and David LaPlante (Tina) of Spruce Pine. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive, along with his cherished pet, Miss Kitty.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1st at the North Toe Apartments E Building Community Room. Pastor Mike Thomas and Pastor Brent Duncan will officiate.
