Kathleen Hoilman Buchanan, age 91, of Pine Branch Road in Spruce Pine went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on July 30, 1932 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley and Texie Woody Forbes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Hoilman who passed away in 1976 and later by her second husband, Rev. J. Astor Buchanan who passed away in 1996. Also preceding her in death was her son-in-law, Arthur Crowder and step-son Jimmy Buchanan.
Kathleen was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She loved crocheting, working in her flowers and garden. She also loved spending time with her family and particularly with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters; Dellie Crowder and Marie Hall and husband, Rick all of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren; Amanda Briggs (Larry), Mark Crowder and wife Toni, Matthew Crowder (Kim) and Arthur Crowder, Jr.; her great grandchildren; Ashley Hughes and husband, Kevin and Andrew Crowder; her great great grandchildren; Lindsay and Grayson Hughes; and her sisters; Lucille Lanning and husband, Robert of Nebo, Anna Lee Ledford of Jonesborough, TN, Jennieve Cook of Marion and Irene Fisher of Spruce Pine; her step-children, David Buchanan, Norma McKinney, Jay Buchanan, Gwen Buchanan and Eddie Buchanan.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s. Cass Buchanan, and Michael Burnop officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery on Bent Road in Spruce Pine.
The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to the nurses at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital and Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for their care of Kathleen during her illness.
