The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed a Madison High teacher was arrested Dec. 8 and charged with sexual misconduct with students.
According to Lt. Coy Phillips, with Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Chandler, who served as Madison High School’s band director, has been charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a student.
According to Madison County Schools Superintendent Will Hoffman, Chandler resigned Dec. 8.
Hoffman said. “After receiving an initial allegation of possible misconduct, Mr. Chandler was suspended immediately so the matter could be investigated and Mr. Chandler resigned his employment from Madison County Schools on December 8.
Superintendent Hoffman said “We take student safety very seriously, and we will continue to cooperate and work hand-in-hand with the Sheriff Department’s investigation into this matter.”
Chandler had served as Madison High School’s band director since 2019.
