Blue Ridge Parkway Burning Ban Lifted

The Blue Ridge Parkway has announced that the ban on backcountry campfires had been lifted. According to a press release, “National Park Service officials remind visitors that while precipitation, cooler temperatures and shorter days allow for campfires to resume, fire danger is still high across the region.  Fires in developed areas must also be confined to designated fire rings and grills. Always attend and fully extinguish grills and campfires until cool to the touch.”

A campfire ban was issued in November due to the extremely dry conditions. Rainfall over this past weekend helped the conditions.
