Melba Elliott Randolph, age 80 of Spruce Pine, NC went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 11, 2023.
A native of Yancey County (Newdale Community), she was the daughter of the late Latt Elliott Jr. and True Wilson Elliott. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Preston Randolph and an infant daughter, Tamara Randolph.
Melba graduated from East Yancey High School in 1960. She spent one year at Warren Wilson College before going to work for the phone company in Asheville. She and Charles met and started dating while in high school. They married in October of 1963. She later retired from McDowell County DSS.
Surviving is her daughter, Desiree Huskins, her son, Chuck and wife, Donna, all of Burnsville. She was MomMom to Tamara Huskins (Matt), Kristian Huskins (Kelsey), Catherine Honeycutt (Todd), and Olivia Randolph. Her great-grandchildren include Dalton, Hudson, Hagan, Brantley, and another little one on the way; siblings: Brenda Ledford (Gene) and Danny Elliott (Yvonne); sisters-in-law: Cynthia Robinson of Jackson, TN and Patricia Bennett of Burnsville; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The family will accept friends and loved ones one hour prior to the service for visitation. Interment will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Green Mountain, NC. Reverend Charles Ray Carroll will be officiating.
