Mary Louise Buchanan, age 93 of Spruce Pine passed away Sunday December 17, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Boss and Willie Mae Vaughn Ollis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Emory Buchanan, three brothers, Ray, Roy and Guy Ollis and two sisters, Katherine Buchanan and Lillian “Sis” Grindstaff.
Louise was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Quilting, Coloring, doing word searches and was a Snap Chat fanatic with her niece Sophie.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughters, Sharon Braswell and husband Butch of Spruce Pine, Lorie Dover and husband Tee of Spruce Pine, Deborah Sparks and husband Chris Snow of Winston Salem, NC and Cindy Ollis and husband Ben of Spruce Pine, Brother, Pete Ollis and wife Evelyn of Spruce Pine, Nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Buchanan will be conducted at 6:00 pm Monday December 18, 2023, in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will have a graveside service on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff of Compassionate Care WNC, Brandy Laws and Kelly Hughes and to John and Inza Staton and Sharon Hollifield for being her ride to church.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations be made to Compassionate Care WNC or to St. Jude Research Hospital.
