Bettie Renfro Laws, age 89, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18th, 2023.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Pearl Murphy Renfro. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Laws who passed away in 1999; infant brother, Royce Renfro and brothers: Lee, JB, Kenneth and Ronnie Renfro.
Bettie attended Open Door Baptist Church until her declining health. She enjoyed gardening, cleaning, cooking, shopping with her daughter and her granddaughter. Bettie took great honor in her elegant appearance.
Surviving is her daughter, Debie Garland and husband, Phillip, of Burnsville; granddaughter, Shealeigh Garland of Burnsville; great-granddaughter, Emersyn; sisters; Wanda Ray of Burnsville and Estelle Westall of Newport News, VA; brother, Keith Renfro and wife, Janet, of Burnsville and a sister-in-law, Joyce Renfro also of Burnsville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 21st in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. David Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
