Alyce Sparks Owens, age 73, of Hollifield Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at the John F. Keever Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville.
Born on December 11, 1950 in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Mary Sue Hollifield. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bob Owens who passed away in 2015; her son; David Sparks; her granddaughter, Aliza Sparks and her grandson, Justin Hughes and her brothers; Richard and Dean Hollifield.
Alyce attended The Bridge Church in Spruce Pine. She was a Godly woman that loved the Lord. She loved people and was always willing to help anyone that was in need. She loved spending time with her family and particularly her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters; Candace Sparks and Christy Hoilman and husband, Brian all of Spruce Pine; her sisters; Shelba Snipes of Spruce Pine and Betty Calloway and husband, John of Newland; her grandchildren; Adam Hughes and wife, Breeanna, Brandon Hughes and girlfriend, Alexis McCurry, Jeremy King, Katrina King, and Andrew Sparks; her great grandchildren; Noah, Jacob, Brody, Brooklyn, Winsley and Willow; several nieces and one nephew.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:000 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Hensley officiating. Interment will be in the Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
