Bob Huskins, age 90, of Ridge Road in Spruce Pine passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his home.
Born on October 25, 1933 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Alvin and Sally Johnson Huskins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genella Bowen Huskins who passed away in 2021. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; Bill and Harold Huskins and his sisters;Thelma Hipps and Atlas Williams.
Bob was a member of the Altapass Baptist Church. He had worked as a truck driver for fifty years. He enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard and making a garden. He also enjoyed driving his golf cart throughout his community and talking with his neighbors. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with them.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter; Diane McKinney and husband, Charlie of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren; Michael Ledford, Shanda Greene and husband, Adam and Alecia Dellinger and husband, Cody; his great grandchildren; Aiden, Lilly, Asher, Lilah, and Axton; and his sister; Patsy Stamey of Bakersville.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Ledford officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to; Medi Home Hospice, 1955 Newland Highway, Newland, NC 28657.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to the staff of Medi Home Hospice for their exceptional Care of Bob during his illness.
