Cora Laine Murdock, everyone’s “Lainey Lou”, 20-month-old daughter of Levi and Cherith Loftis Murdock opened her eyes in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 13th, 2024.
Lainey Lou enjoyed dancing, dressing up, wearing hats, and had a knack for mismatching her clothes. One of her favorite things was snuggling with her Daddy. She had a strong attachment to her paci, her dog, Archie, but most of all, her Bubbas. She brought much love and happiness to everyone, and her infectious smile will always be remembered. A life that was short-lived will live on through her heroic donation of her heart to Honor Bridge where the gift of life is shared with those in need through organ donations. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, especially her Mommy, Daddy, Bubbas and family, and will forever be loved, cherished, and remain in their hearts as their sweet Lainey Lou, everyone’s sunshine girl.
Left to cherish all the incredible memories of her are her parents, Levi and Cherith Loftis Murdock, and her Bubbas, Kayden and Cowen of the home; her dog, Archie; maternal grandparents, Matt “Poppy” and Nikki “Mimi” Loftis of Burnsville; paternal grandparents, Rick “Papaw” and Regina “Jeje” Murdock of Bakersville; maternal great-grandparents, Donald “Pop” and Lois “WoWo” Loftis of Burnsville; paternal great-grandparents, T.J. “Papaw T.J.” and Judy “Mama Ju” Miller of Bakersville; three aunts: Chaleigh “Tia” Loftis, Caydeigh “Deigh” Henderson (Chris) and Camille “Mille” Loftis, all of Burnsville; and uncle, Eli Murdock (Hannah) of Spruce Pine.
Funeral services to cherish her memory will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 21st at Little Ivy Baptist Church in Mars Hill. Brother Scott Dotson and Brother Kenneth Forbes will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be private.
If anyone would like to send flowers, the family requests any type of perennial flowers, tree, shrub or even seeds which will be planted in the spring in a memory garden for Lainey Lou.
