Betty “Edna” Sheets, age 76, of Bakersville, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Hassie Tyler Hill. She was preceded in death as well by her loving husband of 56 years, Rev. J.C. Sheets, as well as four sisters.
Edna loved gardening and tending to her chickens. She married the love of her life, J.C. Sheets, in her early teens, spent 56 years with him and stood by him for 42 years as a minister’s wife. Edna was a loving, Godly mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving her are three daughters: Lisa Sheets, Dottie Parker and Sandra Tipton (Rusty); five grandchildren: Tony Parker (Morgan), Tara Hansen (Michael), Jessica Jones (Zach), Whitney Sams (Dustun) and Lucas Tipton (Elizabeth); three great-grandchildren: Caleb, Logan, and Clayton who was Grandma’s boy; eight siblings; her faithful companion, Bella, and special caregiver, Angie Hughes.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23rd at Roan’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. John Stockton, Rev. Marvin Sheets and Rev. Wayne Hubbard will officiate. Burial will follow in Fork Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
