The Center for Pioneer Life proudly announces the appointment of Sarah Presnell as its new Executive Director, effective January 2024. With a wealth of experience in the museum sector, Sarah brings a unique blend of expertise and passion to her role, poised to lead the Center into a new era of innovation and community engagement.
A native of Yancey County and graduate of Mountain Heritage High School, Sarah Presnell has deep roots in the region and a profound understanding of its cultural heritage. She earned her bachelor’s degree in History and Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2018, where her academic pursuits laid the foundation for her career in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. Following her undergraduate studies, Sarah pursued her master’s degree in Museum Studies from University College London in 2019, further honing her skills and knowledge in museum management, curation, and community outreach. Her experiences as a curatorial consultant at the Rowan Museum in Salisbury, NC, have equipped her with invaluable insights into the intricacies of museum operations and the importance of fostering meaningful connections with diverse audiences.
The Center for Pioneer Life is delighted to also announce the appointment of Hannah Presnell as its new Media Director, further strengthening its team of dedicated professionals committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Western North Carolina. With a background in media, advertising, and a passion for heritage preservation, Hannah brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role, poised to enhance the Center’s outreach and communication efforts. A native of Yancey County and fellow graduate of Mountain Heritage High School, Hannah Presnell shares her sister Sarah’s deep-rooted connection to the region and a profound appreciation for its cultural legacy. She earned her bachelor’s degree in History and Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2023, where she cultivated her skills in media production, communication strategies, and storytelling. Hannah’s professional journey has seen her actively engaged in promoting cultural institutions and heritage organizations through strategic media and advertising campaigns. As the current Media Coordinator of the Rowan Museum in Salisbury, NC, she demonstrates her ability to effectively communicate the museum’s mission and engage diverse audiences through various digital and traditional media channels. Her most recent role as a media and advertising intern at the Hughes Agency in Greenville, SC, further expanded her expertise in the industry, providing her with valuable insights into contemporary marketing trends and strategies. Hannah’s diverse background and hands-on experience make her a valuable addition to the Center’s team as they continue to expand their reach and impact.
