The North Carolina Forest Service reported a fire in Madison County early Tuesday afternoon.
The Dan Branch Fire had grown to about 60 acres Wednesday and was threatening several structures.
According to the Forest Service fire website, the blaze was 60 percent contained Wednesday afternoon. North Carolina Forest Service District Forester Trent Duncan said the fire is threatening 13 homes/structures.
Crews from the North Carolina Forest Service and Mars Hill Fire Department have been on scene since Tuesday. Authorities said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
