Alfred Orsini age 90 of Spruce Pine the Gouges Creek community passed away Thursday March 14, 2024. Born in Cuba he was a son of the late Domingo and Francisca Sanchez Orsini. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alice Thomas Orsini, one brother and three sisters.
Al was a veteran of the US Army and worked as a Teacher in Florida until his retirement. Al had a passion for history and all types of sports, At the age of ninety he continued to feed his animals every morning, even if it was raining or snowing. He loved his goats, chickens, and donkeys. Jack the dog and Bucky the cat were his companions. During feeding time Al always made sure his leftovers were warmed in the microwave for them.
Al’s great grandson Layton was the apple of his eye. He would tell Layton he loved him so much it hurt. Al enjoyed his morning ritual of drinking coffee with his close friends, Tom, Wayne and Dennis. Al loved the view of the mountains from his deck watching the animals and admiring the beauty of God’s creation.
Left to cherish his memories is his daughters, Adele Orsini, and Annette Lawson both of Spruce Pine, grandchildren, Ashley Brooke Williams of Lake City, FL and James Alfred Lawson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, sister Albie Barnes of Miami FL and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mr. Orsini will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday March 21, 2024, in the Gouges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Tommy and Donnie Thomas officiating.
