Yvonne Fender McIntosh

Yvonne Fender McIntosh, age 69, of the Bald Creek Community, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 21st, 2021 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of the Bee Log Community in Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Duke and Atlas McCurry Fender. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Fender.

When she was younger, she attended Bald Mountain Freewill Baptist Church. Yvonne had a servants heart. She worked for five years with Mountain Manor, but her favorite job was working with and care giving for patients of Yancey Hospice for over thirteen years. She enjoyed working in her flowers, quilting and adored her two little dogs, Charlie and Marley. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving is her loving husband of 46 years, Dwight McIntosh; children: Donna Peterson and husband, David, of Bakers Creek, Russell McIntosh and wife, Heather, of Bald Mountain and Dwayne McIntosh and wife, Shanna, of Bald Creek; grandchildren: Lucas Ramsey, Nicole McIntosh, Christopher McIntosh, Noah Pitman, Devin McIntosh, Caleb Edwards and Lexie McIntosh; great-grandchildren: Lacie Hensley, Jackson Autrey and one on the way; sisters: Linda Wallace of Bald Mountain and Elaine Wallace and husband, Don, of Pig Pen and brother, David Fender of Asheville. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Royce Ball and Rev. Brian Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow in the Duke Fender Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
