Troy Roosevelt Haney, age 77, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21st, 2021 at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Baxter Milton Haney and Ethel Phillips Haney. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Fern Estep Haney; infant son, Jeffrey Haney; sisters: Nellie Edwards and Mae Edwards; and brothers: Andrew Haney, Harry Haney, Floyd Haney, Silas Haney, Avery Clay Haney and Paul Haney. Troy loved fishing and woodworking.
Surviving is his son, Dana Haney (Angela) of Deland, FL; daughter, Rebecca Willis (Stan) of Burnsville; grandchildren: Aaron Willis (Jessica) of Canton, Jonathan Willis (Christina) of Waynesville and Megan Willis of Burnsville; brother, William Ray Haney of Burnsville. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 28th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Bobby Sprinkle will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Watts Cemetery on Lotties Creek.
