Preacher Ronnie Gouge

Preacher Ronnie Gouge, age 80, of the Blue Rock Community, left Grace Baptist Church Sunday Morning, January 24th, 2021 for the last time. Unexpectedly he never made it to his earthly home for God had a different plan and took him to his heavenly home.

Preacher Ronnie Gouge pastored  Grace Baptist Church for 41 years.  He was dedicated to His service for the Lord and his church family. He was also known for visiting the sick and he had held many revivals. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and friend. He will be missed by many.

A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Ossie and Frances Honeycutt Gouge. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Hughes Gouge who passed in 2015;  brothers: Reid and Ted Gouge and son-in-law Tommy Murphy.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters: Rhonda Murphy of Spruce Pine, Tammy Willis of Burnsville and Shelly Gouge of Spruce Pine; son, Frankie Gouge and wife, Becky, of Butler TN; grandchildren: Joshua Willis, Samuel Willis (Amanda), Matthew Nanney(Aubrey), William Nanney (Jordan), Taylor Hollifield (Seth) and Andy Gouge (Kalyn); great-grandchildren: Alex Gouge, Owen Nanney, Ralph Willis and Henry Willis; sister, Jean Hollifield and husband , Lee, of Marion and brother, Keith Gouge and wife, Linda, of Burnsville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Friday, January 29th from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  The Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Preachers Lance Riddle and Dewayne McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Willis, Andy Gouge, Matthew Nanney, William Nanney and Seth Hollifield.

Flowers are appreciated or memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38102-9959.
