F. P. “Pete” Wilson, age 77, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 25th, 2021 at Pardee Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Will and Laura Williams Wilson. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Gladys Higgins and Blanche Hensley and brothers: Juddy Wilson, Royce Wilson and Duff Wilson. Pete enjoyed pitching horseshoes and shooting pool. He loved his family and getting to together with them and his friends.
Surviving is his daughter, Amber Schwartz and husband, Craig, of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren: Alex, Sarah and Eric Schwartz; sister, Yvonne Wilson of Burnsville; sisters-in-law: Leighann Wilson of Burnsville and Zenebia Wilson of Greensboro; special niece, Renee Polk and husband, Don, of Granite Falls and special nephew, Clay Phillips and wife, Billy Jo, of Burnsville. Several other nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3rd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
