Here are the COVID-19 numbers for the Tri-County area from September 1st, released by the Toe River Health District. Yancey County had 43 new positive cases detected; Mitchell County reported 40 and Avery County with 28.
If you would like to be tested for COVID, new testing sites are available in Mitchell and Yancey Counties. First Baptist Church on Tappan Street in Spruce Pine has drive through testing available on Monday from 9am to 4pm and from 9am to 6pm on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
Beginning next week, the Yancey County Health Department is adding another testing day. Starting Monday testing will be available on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Saturday from 9am to 6pm.
No appointment is required at any of these testing sites and there is no charge for the test.
