A formal closure order was signed this weekend prohibiting use of select roads on the Appalachian District. The roads include Stoney Fork Road, Big Ivy Road, in the Coleman Boundary, and South Toe Road beyond Black Mountain Campground.
All of these roads are closed to all uses, including camping. Hikers, cyclists, and equestrian trail users are prohibited from being on a closed road, except when using an open trail that intersects with a closed road. These road closures are in effect now through December 25th of this year or until terminated by an authorized Forest Service official.
