Beginning on Monday, November 1st, Mitchell County will have its first fixed route shuttle bus as a means of transportation. The new route, put in place and operated by Mitchell County Public Transportation is funded by a grant from the National Rural Transit Assistance Community Rides Program. Cost to ride is free for the first year. This new Pine Line Shuttle will run once every hour from 6 am to 6:45 pm, Monday through Friday, starting at Wagonmaster to Deer Park Apartments, Walnut Avenue Apartments, Canipes in town, US Cellular at Grassy Creek, Walmart, North Toe Apartments, Mineral City Heights and Mayland Community College. This will help many Mitchell County residents get to work, shopping, restaurants and recreation.
