Carl Arthur Reeves, Jr.

Carl Arthur Reeves, Jr., of Micaville, was taken too quickly from us on November 21st. Son of Carl Reeves, Sr. and Viola Redmon Reeves of Marshall, and born there in 1937, he lived there until he served the country he loved in the U.S. Air Force between 1958 and 1962. While stationed in Japan, he met Pamelia Murdock, and came home and made her his wife. They lived in San Antonio, Texas, and he worked in electronics research, until returning to North Carolina in 1970 to take up land surveying with his brother, Rayburn. For five decades, he left his footprints all over many surrounding counties as he measured properties. It took a surprising and aggressive cancer to get him to stop! Carpentry, plumbing, electric or stone work, auto mechanics—you name it—he could do it. He has served his local friends in many capacities, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He has been a faithful member of the Gathering Place Church, and loved talking about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He dearly loved music, and could play hymns by heart for hours, and sing with a deep, rich bass voice. He referred to himself as a crazy nut, and was always joking around—never met a stranger.

He is survived by Pam, as well as his sister and closer-than-a-brother-in-law, Roberta and Patrick Murphy; his daughter, Glenna, and his son, David, who both live in Orlando, Florida; four grandsons, Jacob, Justin, Nathan and Ian, one granddaughter, Morgan, and one great-grandson, Zayne, all of whom live in Orlando.

Although he took thousands of pictures of flowers at Biltmore Gardens, and grew many of his own, he would prefer—in lieu of sending flowers—that donations be made to the Yancey Humane Society in honor of how he enjoyed his pets, or Valor Hospice at the VA Hospital, to thank them for the superb care they gave him. His celebration of love service will be held Sunday, November 28, 2021, at 3:00pm at Madison Funeral Services, 1750 Hwy 213, Marshall, NC 28753.
