Frank Junior Hylemon

Frank Junior Hylemon, age 91, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 17th, 2021 at Mission Hospital.

A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John and Lena Willis Hylemon. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lilly Mae Hughes; two infant brothers: James and Robert Hylemon, and brothers: Tommy, Hoyle, Kennith and Bruce Hylemon.

Frank was a member and trustee of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and listening to gospel and bluegrass music.

Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years, Edith Penland Hylemon; a daughter, Sandra McMahan, and husband, Randy, of Burnsville; sons: Randal Hylemon and wife, Barbara, of Asheville, and Rev. Timothy Hylemon and wife, Betty, of Burnsville; grandchildren: Jamonica Briggs (Tony), Kelly Lassiter (Shane), Leslie Elkins (Kyle), Jennifer Wilcox (Josh), Jean Horn, James Hylemon (Amanda), and Melissa McMahan (Josh); twelve great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Lea Hardin and Octavia Austin of Burnsville; and sisters-in-law: Betty Hylemon and Dottie Hylemon, both of Burnsville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
