Charles “Charlie” Nunley, age 80, of the Possum Trot Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 27th, 2021 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Mendota, VA, he was a son of the late Bernard and Annie Jean Murray Nunley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mickey Nunley. Charlie was a US Army Veteran and loved to sing.
Surviving is his loving wife of 38 years, Elizabeth; sister, Glenna Webb of Bristol, VA; daughters: Tabitha Jean Nunley of Johnson City, TN, Marsha Gail Graham and husband, Andre’, of Orlando, FL and Chasity Anita Worley and husband, Troy, of Johnson City, TN; step-children: Wanda Holmes and husband, Johnny, Willa Bennett and husband, Jerry, Wilma Wheeler and husband, Don and Howard Blevins and wife, Cindy, all of Burnsville; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren, twenty three step-great-grandchildren and three step-great, great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 31st in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Rev. Matthew Robinson and Rev. Todd Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Charles and Vickie Crain Community Cemetery with Military Honors Conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57.
