James Dean ‘Jim’ Marcus, age 63, of Blue Jay Drive in Spruce Pine, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at U.N.C. Blue Ridge Morganton.
Born on January 7, 1958 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Paul and Belle Wiseman Marcus. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his half-sister, Nancy Burleson; his half-brother, Jerry Wallace; and his great granddaughter, Journee Hill.
Jim was a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, working outside, hiking, and walking. He loved spending time with his family, going on picnics, and family cookouts. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-five years; Cynthia Carpenter Marcus of the home; his daughters; Jennifer Marcus and Fran Hoilman and husband, Bobby of Spruce Pine; his son; Paul Marcus and finance’, Teresa Hughes of Spruce Pine; eight grandchildren; Maria, Bethany, and Anna Hoilman; Conor and Ciera Beattie; Karrisa, Korbin, and Kaleb Marcus; and two great grandchildren; Emma and Jasper.
Graveside services and interment will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11:00 am in the McKinney Gap Cemetery with the Rev. Nathan Silver officiating.
