Tallie Louise Keahey Sneller, born on August 5, 1925, who has walked with our Heavenly Father in her lifetime, now continues to walk with the Father in her new spiritual body, ministering to each one of us in our lives now as well as in future generations. Tallie entered the Church Triumphant on February 3, 2022.
Tallie was born in Forney, Texas. Her father was employed by Northern Natural Gas Pipeline. Consequently the family gradually moved their way north with the pipeline, living a short time in many small towns along the way until they reached Minnesota, and settled in a community 1o miles outside of Minneapolis. It was there she met Donald Willard Sneller, and on October 8, 1946 they were married.
Donald was a licensed electrical contractor, so for a few years they opened and operated an electrical contracting business in Waterville and Faribault, Minnesota. Tallie was busy taking care of a growing family. She was a homemaker extraordinaire: baking, canning, cooking, cleaning, sewing and knitting the families’ clothing, making curtains or anything else to make their home more comfortable and inviting.
In 1958 Donald felt called into the ministry, and soon was appointed to two small churches in Southern Minnesota. Tallie was not very excited about becoming a preacher’s wife, but supported her husband’s decision and made the commitment with him. She was loved by all the parishioners in every church they served because of her loving, supportive ways. After serving there, they moved to the mountains of North Georgia. Then on to an inner city ministry in Atlanta, Georgia, where they also had the opportunity to become involved in the civil rights movement. While in Atlanta their fifth child was born. They moved back to Minnesota to serve in St. Paul’s inner city. Then moved to the East Coast serving churches in Connecticut and Long Island, as well as a two year term with the Methodist Board of Missions.
In 1986 they made a decision to retire to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, and began building their own home. They lived there for twenty seven years and served two more appointments there. In April 2015 they moved to Trinity View Retirement Community where they made new friends, and found a new ministry in being a light to all they met. Tallie moved into Yancey House of Burnsville following the death of her husband in April 2019 and remained there until her death.
Tallie and Don raised five children: Corinne Harris, Denise Cook, Douglas Sneller, Teresa Henshall, and James Sneller. They claimed an innumerable amount of extended family including spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and significant others.
The family appreciates the love and prayers that have been extended to Tallie as well as the whole family. A service will be held later. Because both Don and Tallie led a life of service caring for others, please make a gift to your favorite charity, particularly one that serves people in need. We also want to thank all the workers of Yancey House, as well as Medi Home Hospice, for the loving care they gave our Mom.
