Madeline Bryant, age 96, of Burnsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Brian Center in Weaverville, NC.
She was born to the late Charles and Martha Gouge Slagle in Washington County, TN.
Madeline lived in Yancey and Mitchell Counties during her lifetime, eventually moving full-time to Yancey County in her later years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles and her sisters: Virginia Hawfield and Celene Phillips.
Madeline’s pride and joy in her life was her family. If you were around her, it was not long before she talked about her son Greg and the grandkids, Bridget and Barron. Along with doing anything with her family, she loved horseback riding, creating crafts, playing the piano, and decorating presents. She knew how much folks loved getting decorated gifts from her and she spared no details when creating them.
Much of Madeline’s career has been in the legal field working with lawyers and with the clerk of court. She retired from Bailey and Bailey Law Firm where she dedicated much of her life to.
Surviving is Madeline’s son, Greg and wife, Vickie, of Burnsville; granddaughter, Bridget and her dog, Bella, of Burnsville; grandson, Barron and wife, Morgan, of Charleston, SC; former daughter-in-law, Teresa Bryant-Brown of Burnsville; step-granddaughter, Dyana Nelson of Burnsville; great-granddaughter, Rowan Bryant; step-great-granddaughter, Kailynn Buchanan, and sister, Kate Hoskins of Washington, D.C. In addition, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends remain to cherish her memory.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 19th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon prior to the services the funeral home.
