Charles William Burleson, age 93, of Staton & Burleson Lane in Newland, the Frank community, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on April 27, 1928 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Avery and Foy Putman Burleson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Orpha Lee Staton Burleson who passed away in 2017. Also preceding him in death was his sister; Ava Lee Burleson and his brothers; Dick, Ralph, and Fred Burleson.
Charles was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets, and buying and selling collectible tools and antiques. He loved spending time with his family. In his spare time, he also enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard.
Left to cherish his memory is his sons; Bill Burleson and wife, Martha of Elk Park and Jimmy Staton of the home; his grandson; Andrew Charles Burleson of Winston-Salem, NC; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 6:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Laws officiating. Interment will be in the Slippery Hill Cemetery.
