Home Invasion Arrest

An investigation spanning several months as well as several states led to the arrest of Julian Joseph Nejman in New York.

In August of 2021, a resident of Silver Springs Road in Yancey County reported to the Sheriff’s Office they believed the residence had been a victim of a Breaking and Entering. Missing from the home were several electronic devices, numerous items of jewelry, and some personal items.  Residents in the area were interviewed for leads.

As a resident of Silver Springs Road, Nejman was interviewed during this time.  After trying to corroborate the statements made by Nejman, he became a suspect. After further information was obtained from other sources, warrants were issued for Nejman.  Information came in that Nejman had fled the state.  Nejman was then entered into NCIC as a wanted fugitive.

In early September 2021, Yancey County Sheriff’s Office Detective Ronnie Tipton was contacted by Detectives from Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. Detectives stated they had possibly located some of the stolen items. After further investigation, it was confirmed, that the items that had been located at a pawn shop in Florida, belonged to the victim.

Earlier this month Nejman was extradited back to North Carolina from Troy, New York where he was arrested. At the Yancey County Detention Center, Nejman was served with several warrants including (3) counts of Felony Identity Theft, Breaking and Entering, and Felony Larceny after Break/Enter. Nejman is being held at the Yancey County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
