Horace James Boston, age 87, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Friday, April 9th, 2022 at his home. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Bascom and Nora Cox Boston. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Willie McKinney, Joe Boston and Ralph Boston. Horace was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and retired from Henredon Furniture. Pop enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to camp, especially at Cades Cove, bluegrass music, gardening and trains. More than anything Pop loved his wife, Betty and his family. He was a role model and influenced many during his life.
Surviving is loving wife of 71 years, Betty Willis Boston; four children: James Buck Boston (Tina) of Spruce Pine, Gary Boston (Emma) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sue Harrison (Kenny) of Burnsville and Tim Boston (Linda) of Spruce Pine; thirteen grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Numerous other extended family members also survive.
