Cathy Tolley Nelson, age 68, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 25th, 2022 at Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, NC.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Lou Buchanan Tolley. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sue Fox; brother-in-law, Frank Fox and a niece, Rev. Felicia Fox.
Cathy was a pastor at numerous churches with her husband, Rev. Ken Nelson. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, working with youth groups, singing hymns and gardening. She loved her family dearly and took great care of her brother, Joe.
Surviving is her loving husband of 43 years, Rev. Ken Nelson; son, Josh Nelson and wife, Valerie, of Burnsville; her precious granddaughters: Madison and Mackenzie Nelson; brother, Joe Tolley and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Foxx and husband, Dennis, of Burnsville. Several other extended family members and church family also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April. 28th at Faith Fellowship Church. Rev. David Gillespie will officiate. Burial will follow in the Boone Cemetery on Plum Branch Road. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. on Thursday prior to the services at the church.
