Barbara Jewel Duncan Stogner

Barbara Jewel Duncan Stogner, age 90, of Azalea Lane in Spruce Pine passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 8th, 2022 at The Mitchell House in Spruce Pine.

Barbara was born October 29th, 1931, in the Rebels Creek community of Mitchell County to the late Allen Honeycutt Sr. and the late Mollie Boone Honeycutt and grew up in Newdale.

Barbara married Jack J. Duncan on July, 21, 1951 in Spruce Pine where they resided for the most part until Jack passed away in 1995. In 1999, she remarried Douglas Jack Stogner and they lived between Summerfield, FL and Spruce Pine until Doug’s death in 2012. Barbara remained in Spruce Pine for the rest of her precious life. She was also preceded in death by her brother; Allen Honeycutt Jr,; her sister; June Honeycutt Self Martin and her beloved nephew; Fred Allen Self (Freddie).

Barbara first worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Spruce Pine where she met Brad Ragan and became his administrative assistant for Brad Ragan, Inc. in the late 1950’s. She worked for him until his death in 1979 and continued her work career with Good Year Tire until she retired in 1995. Barbara was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of the Grassy Creek Golf Course Ladies Auxilary Club. She enjoyed traveling and in her spare time, she enjoyed arranging flowers. Barbara never had children but cherished all of her nieces and her nephew.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother; Tony Honeycutt and wife, Venita; her niece; Babette Self Leffler and husband, Greg, her niece; Jennifer Martin O’Fallon and husband, Kenny; her sister-in-law; June Honeycutt, her niece; Tina Honeycutt and her niece; Andrea Honeycutt. There are several great nieces and nephews left to cherish her memories.

A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. Entombment will be in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Mausoleum.
