Donald R. Huskins, age 81, of Lower Browns Creek, passed away on Wednesday, June 15th, 2022 at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Autherene Bolick Huskins. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Sherrill Huskins; a granddaughter, Elizabeth McFarland; a sister, Doris Gurley; infant brothers: Dwayne and Douglas Huskins, and brothers: Fred Huskins and Dennis Huskins; two sons-in-law: Eljay Hollifield and Mike McFarland; and friend, June Knight.
Donald was a hard-working, generous man who loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed playing his guitar and taking care of his pets. Most of all, he loved his family.
Surviving is his former wife and mother to his children, Jewell Huskins of Burnsville; five daughters: Angie Simmons (Andrew) of Lincolnton, Donna Randolph (Chuck) of Burnsville, Julie Huskins of Burnsville, Kerin Taylor (Keith) of Morganton, and Norma Jean Huskins of Burnsville; two sons, Danny Huskins (Janice) of Greer, SC and Jason Huskins (Erin) of Burnsville; two sisters: Helen Hall (Donald) of Weaverville and Nancy Tipton (Oscar) of Charlotte; three brothers: Bill Huskins (Linda), Burl Huskins (Debbie) and Darryl Huskins (Donna), all of Burnsville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Murphy Huskins of Newdale; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Several other family members also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 20th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Holt Whitson will officiate. Graveside Services will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery on Seven Mile Ridge. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the Funeral Services at the funeral home.
