Changes To Burnsville’s Noise Ordinance

As more people have been enjoying live outdoor music events and the number of them and their regularity has increased it has become necessary for the Town of Burnsville to pass new amendments to their Noise Ordinance. There have been a few complaints from people whose residences are located near commercial businesses who are featuring  entertainment. On July 14th the Town adopted a revised ordinance governing the hours of entertainment music for commercial businesses within the commercial zoned districts. The ordinance sets from 8 am to 9 pm Sunday through Thursday with hours extended to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. There are exemptions for holidays, festivals and religious ceremonies. The ordinance however, also limits the number of special permits that allow businesses to extend those set hours occasionally. All permits will go through the Chief of Police or his designee for approval. To see the complete ordinance go to http://www.townofburnsville.org.
