Robert Burleson, age 80, of Spruce Pine, passed away, September 29th, 2022 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was a son of the late Howard and Mary Burleson of Buladean.
Robert was a hard worker and retired from Henredon Furniture. He enjoyed fishing and “digging in the dirt” as he would say gardening. He was a very simple man and you would usually find him at home in his chair watching wrestling, news channels or looking through sales papers for coupons. He was full of stories and political views.
Robert was married to the late Edna Burleson. They had a daughter, Patricia Hughes (J. R. Hughes) of Spruce Pine, two grandkids: Amanda Nance and Jamie Hughes (Coty Edwards); one great grandson, Hayden Nance, that he loved to come visit and talk about fishing, running dogs and politics. Robert is also survived by three brothers: Ronald Burleson (Cindy Burleson) of Cane Creek, Larry Burleson of Buladean and Gary Burleson of Tennessee.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022 in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Chris Nance, Pastor Stevie Burleson and Marvin Sheets will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Spruce Pine Memorial Park.
