Jennifer Barrier Hudson, age 56, of Jonas Ridge, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 19th, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Burke County, she was a daughter of Johnny Barrier and the late Bette Hollifield Barrier. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clarkston and Annie Belle Hollifield, and paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Pauline Barrier.
Jennifer was an avid fan of Duke basketball, Appalachian State football, and Dallas Cowboys football. She also loved traveling, especially spending time at the beach in Sanibel Island, Florida and Murrells Inlet, SC. She worked all of her adult life as the administrator at Jonas Ridge Adult Care Facility where her parents instilled in her the fundamentals of showing compassion, giving and caring for others, and a strong work ethic. She and her sister were taught from an early age to live by the Golden Rule. She was a member of Jonas Ridge United Methodist Church. She was the most caring, selfless lady, always doing for others, and her love for her family and the Lord came above all other things in life. Her love for people and her giving soul will always be her legacy.
Surviving, in addition to her father, is her son, Clint Elton Manuel of Murrells Inlet, SC; a sister, Cindy Chapman and husband, Ty, of Morganton; a nephew, Evan Marcus Chapman and wife, Angela, of Morganton; and an uncle, Clarkston Hollifield, Jr., as well as a host of aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 26th, in the Jonas Ridge United Methodist Church. Rev. Ken Anderson will officiate with Rev. Keith Tutterow as honorary. Burial will follow in the Barrier Family Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Evan Chapman, Julian Rauch, Samuel Phillips, Brandon Watson, Danny Pierce and Eric Franklin. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 25th, at Jonas Ridge United Methodist Church.
