Roger Dale “Flash” Clark

Roger Dale “Flash” Clark, age 74, of the Jonas Ridge Community, passed away on Sunday, December 11th, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Burke County, he was a son of the late Eli and Elsie Rose Clark.  He is also preceded in death by a son, Roger Dale Clark, Jr.; a brother, Howard Clark; two sisters: Barbara Jean Clark and Carolyn Freeman; and a son-in-law, Jack Clark.

Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.  He was also a tractor-trailer driver, then worked in shrubbery and landscaping at Clark’s Nursery.

He enjoyed fishing and driving race cars, and loved his chickens that he raised.  More importantly, Roger loved his family.

Surviving is his loving wife of 34 years, Betty Smith Clark; four daughters: Jolie Clark of Arizona, Jennifer “Jenny” Clark of Banner Elk, Susan Clark of Jonas Ridge, and Lisa Greene (Chad) of Spruce Pine; son: Jason Scott Clark of Jonas Ridge; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother, William Clark of Jonas Ridge and a special friend, Elaine Buchanan.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge at 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC  28777.
