Betty Jean Robinson Young, age 86, of Newdale, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 17th, 2022 at the home of her granddaughter. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Shelby and Lora Buchanan Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Brant Young, whom she took very good care of; brothers: Herman and Rabon Robinson and a brother-in-law, Donald Harrison. she enjoyed sewing, gardening and was a wonderful housekeeper. She especially loved her family.
Surviving is her daughter, Amelia Poteat of Burnsville; granddaughter, Jessica Dillingham and husband, Paul, of Burnsville; grandchildren: Austin, Ryan and Josh Meadows and Kristen McMahan; sister, Patsy Harrison of South Toe; brother, Frank Robinson and wife, Brenda, of Double Island and her childhood friend, Shirley Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 22nd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Randy Sellars will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Private burial will be held in the Newdale Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
