Colene Helms Norton age 90 of Sunshine Hill Street, Spruce Pine passed away Wednesday December 21, 2022, at her home.
Born in Union County, NC she was a daughter of the late Robert O. Helms, Sr. and Bessie Aycoth. She was preceded in death by a son, Rick Harris and a brother, Arnold Helms. She attended Pine Grove Presbyterian Church and was the Owner of the Design Haus in Banner Elk in the seventies where she did interior design. Colene was the first President of the Democratic Women’s Club of Union County, NC.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband Gary Norton of the home, daughters, Donna Sell of Monroe, NC and Liz Lecka of Foscoe, NC and sons, Frank Harris of SC and Tom Harris of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by a sister, Brenda Wilhelm and a brother, Robert O. Helms, Jr both of Monroe, NC,; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In keeping with Colene’s wishes no services are planned for this time.
