Peggy Penland Buchanan, age 75, of the Jacks Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 at Yancey House. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Hubert and Daisy Penland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Buchanan who passed away in 2022 and her brother, Wayne Penland (Pearl).
Peggy enjoyed doing hair at Sandy’s Hair Fashions, where she worked for a number of years. She also enjoyed gardening and country line dancing with the Boot Scooters in Yancey County. Peggy’s greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Surviving is her son, Tim Buchanan and wife, Alli, of Jacks Creek; her grandsons: Jaxon and Benson Buchanan and her niece, Angie Benfield (James) of Burnsville and a great-nephew, James Benfield of New York. Several other extended family also survive.
Services are incomplete and will be announced.
