It is BBQ time again in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. This year is better than ever with a new location, the most delicious BBQ and exciting new music. The date is October 5, 2024 from 10 am – 9 pm and will be downtown Spruce Pine on Locust Street (locals know it as Lower Street). The Rotary club of Spruce Pine sponsors the Spruce Pine BBQ Festival and uses the proceeds to fund local non-profits in our area as well as educational opportunities in our school system.
The festival activities include award winning BBQ, many food and craft vendors, music all day, cake walk, face painting and inflatables for kids. The music schedule is as follows:
10 am – noon Thirty Ought 6
Noon – 2 pm JAM – Jody and Mark
2 pm – 4 pm Carolina Bluegrass Style
4 pm – 6 pm Michelle Leigh Band
7pm – 9 pm TBD
Thirty Ought 6 is a great local band that loves to play music together and entertain
JAM is a staple in our area for country as well as country rock music
Carolina Bluegrass Style is from Columbia, SC and bluegrass is their specialty
Michelle Leigh Band is southern rock and has won several awards in both Southern Rock & multi-genre. She is Mitchell County born and raised winning many Josie Music Awards for song of the year, female entertainer of the year, best performance in a music video (female), and the list goes on.
The admission charge is $5/person with kids 12 and under FREE. This admission charge has given us the ability to build a playground in Riverside Park, purchase a storage shed for the Giving Gardens, provide a freezer for our local food bank, college scholarships for high school seniors, and many more deserving local projects.
This year we have added a very special award that Rotary presents to outstanding community leaders. This year’s “You Make A Difference Award” goes to our very own Kathy Miller. Mrs. Miller has probably taught every child music in Mitchell County.
Please join us in downtown Spruce Pine and celebrate Mrs. Miller. The award will be presented after 4 pm. Plan to treat yourself to some delicious bbq and listen to the music.
The NC Mountains to Coast ride also will begin their ride across NC on this day in Riverside Park. We are excited to show off our town and surrounding area.
Don’t miss this annual event in downtown Spruce Pine, October 5, 2024 from 10 am – 9 pm.
